In general I am a morning person. I definitely prefer early mornings to late nights. When at home we are typically in bed by 9:30 or 10 and up at 6 or so even on weekends. My hubby works a lot of Saturdays, so that is our routine. We wake up now without alarm clocks on most occasions even when we don’t need to be up and our animals gladly act as alarm clocks if we try to linger in bed to long. I am definitely a morning workout person. It wakes me up and keeps me energized throughout the day. When I am out of town and off my routine, I still try to keep the morning workouts constant. I have to wake up much earlier to accomplish this due to a meeting start time of 7:30, but I don’t really mind. I set the alarm for this morning and, despite being earlier, my internal alarm clock still did it’s job. How did it know?! I typically spend cardio time running and preferably outside. The darkness of an unknown city and a cram-packed hotel gym (Spa Chakra…how could you not have a freeing workout with such a name :)) spurred a cross-training day. I rotated each fifteen minutes to a new program on the elliptical…fat burn, cross trainer, total body, and interval. I tend to get bored on indoor cardio equipment, so this simple change-up worked perfectly. It kept me entertained. Afterwards I high-tailed it up to my room to shower and get ready. I ate breakfast in my room since I timed my workout to leave just enough room to get ready and slide into the meeting right as it starts. Cutting it this close calls for fuss-free nourishment. This morning I had Flax n’ Snax Butter Pecan hot cereal with protein powder added.
Yum! I like both the butter pecan and the blueberry flavor. It really travels well and can be made with hot water from the in-room coffee maker. It was the perfect warm start to a long day!
