Gardening success!. The veggies, herbs, and the lone fruit (blackberries) are in the ground. We went out first thing this morning to see if we had any goodies, yet, but nothing yet 🙂 I have to admit I will be pumped when the first edibles peek out.
Here is a play by-play through pictures……
We first went to our neighborhood park and shoveled some compost into the truck bed, then headed to our lawn and garden store for the cow manure, miracle grow soil, and much.
We cleared out the weeds and in went the various soils, compost, and manure.
Next came tilling. I managed to cut myself just carrying the tiller to the garden area, so I left the real work up to the hubs.
Side note: I spent most of this time trying to figure out when I had my last tetanus shot. Rusty tiller + my leg could = serious issue. Oh well, I figure what’s the worst that could happen. “You could die” was the husbands response. 🙂 Nah! A mere flesh wound. He wasn’t serious, either.
We collected all the plants and spaced them around, giving the herbs their own little tub close to the garden edge for snipping with ease..
After making a few dirt mounds and digging several holes, each plant had found its home and was settled in nicely. Lastly we surrounded them with a blanket of mulch. Time for a drink.
Then it was our turn. We quickly got cleaned up for our dinner downtown and a good glass o wine.
On the seventh day, we rested. It was a packed Saturday, so today has no real plans ahead. I’m going to head out for a run later and clean up the house, but there will be lots of lazing around. Happy Sunday!
