There is a joke by a comedian named Louis Grizzard that states there is a difference between “naked” and “nekkid”. He proceeds to spell the word (N-E-double K-by God ID) and explain that naked means you don’t got no clothes on. Nekkid means you don’t got no clothes on and you’re up to something. We say nekkid here in the south, but I think naked is a more decent description of this morning’s run.
I ran sans technology. No ipod. No watch.
It was part of the Earth Day Challenge and I decided to go for it this morning. It wasn’t a pretty day by any stretch and I headed out early to beat the rain. Holy Humidity! Though there was no actual rain, I could see the moisture in the air and I was soaked when I got home after the 7 mile route.
It was a good run, but definitely not the most comfortable conditions. I did, however, see so many people out. I guess everyone was trying to fit in some outdoor time between the showers. It was nice to have no music in the ears so I could hear the hellos and good mornings as well as the birds chirping as they bathed in the puddles. It’s nice to just take it all in sometimes.
I took a quick shower and headed to the Farmer’s Market.
I got there a bit late and there wasn’t much yet in season, so I just bought some fresh eggs.
They had some herbs and some carrots as well as homemade bread and pecans, but I really needed more greens, bell peppers and other veggies, so I stopped at Sprouts on my way home. Busy morning, but very healthified 🙂
