So I’m a creature of habit. I like routine (is that boring?) and tend to do things on a very similar schedule most days. Granted my job is never routine because I’m in sales and am out and about at different offices everyday, but I do my workouts at the same time most days and work between about the same hours and even eat dinner at a fairly routine time.
Today, I had to go out to work very early. Before the sun was even awake early. That meant no morning cardio. I had to fit it in later in the day and for some reason that always makes my workouts harder. I get bored easier. It throws me off and I guess I’m just not in the zone.
What does boredom in the gym mean for me? Hodge-podge workout. Here’s how it went today.
- 1/2 mi run to the gym
- 15 minute total body elliptical workout
- 3 mi treadmill run jumping around from 7.0 to 9.0 speed making an average of a 7:40 min mile over the 3
- 1 mile run at a steady 8:20 min pace increasing the incline by 1 every minute to an incline of 8
- 1 mile walk at a 4.5 (15 min mile, I think) increasing the incline every 30 seconds up to 15 and then back down.
- 1/2 mi run back home
It was a total 6 miles total with 15 minutes on the elliptical thrown in. It actually felt good and was mildly entertaining, but I definitely still prefer my pre-work AM sessions.
Breakfast also had to be on the go this morning since I had to be out of the house so early. It was leftover baked oatmeal from yesterday mixed in a cup of plain greek yogurt.
I think I liked the oats better cold with the added creaminess of the yogurt. Good thing, since I have leftovers for the rest of the week!
Coffee made the trip out early in my favorite travel mug that the hubs put in my stocking this past Christmas. Side note: favorite part of Christmas is the stockings, favorite color is green, and I like coffee (were you aware of that one already 🙂 ). He done good.
Due to the need to be alert all day without my usual endorphin roundup of AM cardio, that mug was refilled mid-morning at Starbucks. No paper cup for me please. Just pour it right in the green.
Oh, is that a part of the Earth Day Challenge, too? Yep! Check off another point for me 🙂 Competitive much?!
Are you competitive?/If so, is it in everything you do or just certain things?
