Lastnight was a blast! We bought tickets about a month ago to the Van Morrison concert (or gig as he calls it) here in Austin.
This Friday was the night, just 4 days after our 2 year wedding anniversary. Perfect timing since we danced to “Crazy Love” as our first dance at the wedding (sorry for the repeat info from this post. I’m nothing if not overly thorough when story telling 🙂 ).
Anyway, the concert was awesome! Very jazzy. Lots o instruments. In fact, Mr. Morrison played almost every instrument on stage. He had a band of course, but he pulled out the harmonica, sax, and several guitars himself. I’m in awe of anyone with musical talent since I have NONE and he could be a one-man-band! Impressive for sure.
We also learned on the way through the doors that “Van doesn’t like lights”, so turn off your cell phone and no cameras. Huh? Are we all going to sit around in the dark? Who hates lights?! Is he an albino? No, that would be the sun. I think even albinos are ok with interior lights.
When the first spotlight came on and landed right on him we erupted in giggles like school children. Uh-oh, somebody didn’t tell that guy than Van hates lights. Ok, so I’m fairly ridiculous, but easily entertained 🙂
The concert hall was packed and there was a rowdy group of older fans in front of us reliving their college days of yore. There was much very loud clapping and snapping (yes, very loud snapping), yelling out and bobbing around like they were having a seizure. We were thrilled they were having such a great time because they provided some full-out laugh worthy secondary entertainment. Again, I’m easily entertained. I was a bit concerned one might fall off the balcony, but luckily we made it out without any fatalities.
All in all it was a fabulous night even though Van did not play “Crazy Love” Sigh. Of course not. He did, however, play “Brown Eyed-Girl” which I still think was written for me, nevermind the fact I was not alive when it was written (1967) 🙂 Great song!
By the way, how do you imbed a video. It tried with “Crazy Love” from youtube, but couldn’t figure it out? Help!
