Last night, Jensen and I had plans to have dinner at a Hawaiian fusion restaurant called Roy’s. I went online in the afternoon to make reservations and the Austin location was no longer listed. Huh. Ok, enlist google search. “Austin Roy’s closed?” Answers: YES. The real kicker…we have a pretty generous gift certificate that we received about 2 months ago and haven’t had a free night to take advantage. They don’t own any other restaurants in the city and the closest Roy’s is Dallas. Quite frankly if we were in Dallas, there are a million other places we would want to eat. Although free makes Roy’s more enticing even in Dallas. What do we do?!
The short term solution was to find somewhere else to eat last night. That was a bit of a process because we already had our minds set on Roy’s. It can be hard for me to switch gears once I have one specific thing in mind. Anyway, we settled on one of our favorite Mexican places, Gueros. It’s in an area of Austin called SoCo (South Congress) that is pretty eclectic and fun to walk around and hang out in. We went early (around 6) so we wouldn’t have too long of a wait.
After dinner we went next door to the Gueros Jardin to listen to the random latin inspired band and continue our date.
It was a bit hot but comfortable once the sun went down. It was a nice time with my husband. I still love to date him! 🙂
Today started with a 6 mile run and some ab work, a cup of coffee, and a strawberry banana protein shake. Now I am headed to the farmer’s market and I get a special treat this time. Jensen is coming with me! This is one of his Saturday’s off, so he gets to experience the market for the first time. There is just something I love about walking around and seeing all the local goods and they have live music and happy people. It’s a good Saturday morning. Yoga will follow and then we have an afternoon baby shower bbq. Busy day, but filled with fun.
What are your plans?
