Saturday was a busy day with a run, farmer’s market, yoga, a baby shower bbq, and ending with a University of Texas baseball game. What’s better than ending a day of activity by sitting in 95 degree weather with a heat index of 102 in a stadium cram packed with people and no breeze? I can think of a lot actually.
The game was great, but the first hour from about 6:30 to 7:30 before the sun went behind the stadium it was borderline unbearable. The devil would have been slightly uncomfortable, I think. Even after the sun disappeared it was still and stifling. I heard a sweet old southern bell behind me say “It’s so bloomin’ hot.” I was thinking more along the lines of “it’s so fu**ing hot”, but I kept that to myself. Her way sounded much more pleasant. I was also still in the dress I wore to the baby shower since there was no time to change before. Sweating ensued before I even sat down and I was pretty well soaked by the time we left. Look, I like to sweat. Hello hot yoga. However, when I’m not in a swimsuit or workout clothes, I prefer to…well…NOT sweat. Anyway, it was a great day full of quality time with my love despite the hell-like conditions.
After such a run-from-one-thing-to-another type day, we were happy to just chill on Sunday. Maybe chill is not the right word. After heading to the gym for a bit in the morning for some cardio and weights we headed to the pool for a day in the sun. It was HOT! Again. But this time we were swimsuit clad and I was pleased as punch to soak up the rays. We are both a little lobster-like, but we thoroughly enjoyed our first real summer sun-day.
Monday morning started with a bangin 65 minute cardio session, some protein pancakes, and the obligatory coffee. Work is ahead with my usual lunchtime yoga to break up the day. Hope you had a great weekend and are settling back into the weekday day-to-day ok.
