Since the holiday weekend is sadly over and the workweek has once again begun, I’m feeling a need to recap the weekend. I need to relish the fun for a little bit longer even if it is through pictures and memories.
Husband Jensen and I headed out to Inks Lake (Jensen went Friday night and the dogs and I joined Saturday after my run and yoga) which is about an hour outside of Austin to join our friend John and other college buddies at John’s lakehouse. John is Jensen’s best friend from highschool and a friend of mine from college. He was our matchmaker and we enjoy being able to spend time with him.
He throws an annual Fourth of July party out at the lake deemed “Inksdependence Day”. Haha! Love it!Directly across the lake from John’s lakehouse is Jensen’s uncle’s house. We split time between the two and had a full holiday of friends AND family. The jetski was our mode of transportation from one to another. Thanks to a “waterproof” camera, it may be a bit hard to tell in the above photo that our lab, Gus, was a bit distraught at our departure. He’s that dark blob to the back of the ski (bottom right-ish). He jumped off the dock and swam out to try to get on the jetski, too. Jensen tried to direct him back to the shore as our friends on the dock called for him, but he wasn’t having it. Finally Jensen jumped in and swam him back, then joined me back at the jetski as the friends distracted Gus with a tennis ball. He was ecstatic to see us return an hour or so later. Daddy’s Boy! 🙂
We topped Saturday’s day o’ sun off with a fun fireworks show that the hubby’s fam puts on and we had the perfect view just across the lake at John’s. We stayed up late and slept in a bit on Sunday before heading back out into the sun for a few final hours.
A weekend at the lake was the perfect holiday setting and our “boys” had a blast too. They swam and chased balls ALL day Saturday and most of the day Sunday until we headed back. They spent all day Monday sleeping 🙂Our little three-legged blue heeler swam like a fish and kept up with the other dogs no problem. This was his first time to get in the water without one of us carrying him in. He used to be scared of it but this time he followed Gus right in without any hesitation and continued to swim all weekend. Gus finds perfection in a ball and some lake water. It’s all he needs and the weekend provided both. Happy and handsome boy!
I spent yesterday recouping a bit after all the socializing and much less sleep than I’m used to. I got in my workout and yoga, a trip to the grocery, and caught the new Twilight movie, Eclipse, with Kelly. Loved it! Yes, I’m one of those. I’m not a squeeler (though there were a few in the theater) and am able to keep my inner 13 year old under control, but I loved the books and have enjoyed each movie. This was the best one so far, I think.
Hope everyone else had a great Holiday and is getting back at it ok today!
