Good morning all! This morning started out with a bang for me. I did round two of Body for Life with a good, strong, intense HIIT workout first.
Today’s HIIT was a replica of Monday’s, but the weight portion of today’s workout was lower body instead of upper. Though I was workin the legs and butt instead of the arms, chest, and back it followed the same pattern as Monday. Increasing weight while decreasing reps (4 sets 12, 10, 8, 6 reps followed by another set of 12 at the lower weight and 12 more of the second exercise). Here’s how it looked:
- Quadraceps – leg press and barbell squats
- Hamstrings – dumbell lunges and dead row
- Calves – standing heel raise and sitting calf raise
I did a bonus round with the quads and hammies on the leg extension and hamstring curl machines again using the same increasing weight/decreasing rep pattern but stopping at the final 12 with no second exercise.
I followed up a slammin workout with some cool “soft serve” that I saw on Julie’s blog and thought would taste so refreshing. I threw half a frozen banana and about a 1/2 cup frozen strawberries in my Magic Bullet with enough water to keep things moving.
I love that this sweet sorbet-ish treat is all natural. Bananas. Strawberries. That’s it! I will be repeating this often for sure.
The second half of breakfast was a remake of a fast food fave. The sausage, egg, and cheese bagel breakfast sandwich. I cooked up 1 egg white, 1 Morningstar Sausage Patty, toasted a Western Bagel Alternative onion bagel, threw in a little fat free cream cheese and a healthy , tastier (in my opinion) version was born. And them quickly perished! 🙂
