The yoga studio I go to has various milestones. They give you a different colored wristband for each and each coincide with a chakra and new focus for your practice. The markers are class 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 200, 350, and the final one is 500 Yesterday I received the second to last wristband one can receive. It is given at your 350th class which has taken me just under a year and a half to achieve. I have to say I’m proud.
After 350 classes, wisdom is your focus. You now have a deep experiential understanding of yoga. Share and trust your experience. Allow the inner perception you have received from yoga to expand to all aspects of your life. The corresponding chakra is the third eye, Anja. This is the 6th chakra, located between the eyebrows. Traditionally this chakra is the energy of intuition, insight, and thought. This chakra is beyond the elements and is said to relate to the Moon
I don’t know how much I subscribe to all the spiritual or what some may call hippiness of yoga. I know it makes me feel better. I know my body has become more flexible, strong, and balanced through yoga and I know I find a peace there. I don’t know if it’s the focus on yourself to maintain balance, the warmth blazing heat, or the quietness of the room (a very different environment than the rest of my day), but whatever it is, I always feel more positive and calm when I leave.
I try to go 5 days a week and often its 6 or 7. I actually crave it. Though I can get a giggle out of things like “focus on your third eye”. Where is that? What does it look like? What exactly does it do? I do like one line from the description of this milestone…
Allow the inner perception you have received from yoga to expand to all aspects of your life.
I think focusing on ourselves, self-awareness, inner perception, whatever you want to call it is important. It’s not just about what we look like on the outside, but also how we feel on the inside that is health. Do you know what you want? What makes you truly happy? Do you take time for yourself? Do you think YOU are important?
I hope to take the calm, positive, peaceful feeling I have found through yoga into the rest of my life which tends to be high-strung and Type A.
